Lampard’s post-match reaction after securing FA Cup semi-final slot

Lampard has secured an FA Cup semi-final spot after dispatching Leicester City by a goal to nil courtesy Ross Barkley’s second-half strike.

In an interview after the game, Lampard revealed that he made changes at half-time to add urgency and intensity following a first-half performance he was not pleased with. On the night, Ross Barkley sent Chelsea into FA Cup semis

He said he felt he could have made more but he was happy with the reaction and the results of the substitutions.

Frank insists that the triple substitution was not about teaching individuals a lesson because the performance from the team was lethargic.

He doesn’t feel he will have to address the issue with them moving forward.

Lampard praises match-winner Barkley’s attitude and application, not just today but over the last few months.

‘He can score goals, he can shoot with both feet, he makes the box. He’s a big player for us.‘ He said.

Frank finished by updating on the fitness of Pulisic and Christensen and said  ‘Christian felt a tightness in his calf in the second drinks break, hopefully, nothing that keeps him out. Andreas had a problem with his hip yesterday.’

Lampard with his Chelsea lads have been on fire since the return from the coronavirus break and have been rootless so far. Each opponent they have paid in the last two weeks has fallen.

In the Premiership match decider, they showed purpose and beat the defending champions by 2-1 with Pulisic being an instrumental figure on the day. When he was out due to fitness issues, Ross Barkley rose to the occasion.

A second-half goal in the 63rd minute clinched the all-important win and the slot for the FA semi-final slot at stake on the day.

Teams and coaches coming up against the Chelsea lad must do their pre-match preparations well.

The Blues from West London are on fire and would be a team to watch in the FA Cup Semi final clash.
