Ross Barkley’s second-half strike sent Chelsea into FA Cup semis for their 9th attempt to annex the FA Cup trophy. The goal poacher secured the semi-final birth for the blues haven come from the bench in the second half.

They beat Leicester City by a goal to nail three days after securing a 0-1 and on Friday got a famous win over Manchester City which helped Liverpool to secure the Premiership title after 30 years draught.

In the FA Cup battle, Frank Lampard made at halftime, bringing in Ross Barkley who netted home the sole goal and winner in the 63rd minute. By this virtue, Chelsea joined the like of Manchester United and Arsenal in the last four.

One the day, the better side lost however, possession does not win a game but goals, and when it mattered most the Blues got that one crucial goal. On the night Ross Barkley was the key to unlocking the sole goal.

 

Tammy Abraham’s goal was ruled out for offside minutes after Barkley found the space in the goal area,  clip Willian’s measured cross past goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel just past the hour.

This week has been a great one for the Blues who have cleared every team to secure the semi-final slot as to help secure a champions league slot for next season.  The hip problem of the creative and attacking midfielder James Maddison.

Leicester, without the creativity of attacking Leicester City midfielder James Maddison, showed weakness in the middle and they felt his absence. This season has seen a better Chelsea side which has shown purpose and remained buoyant since the season resumed.

Leicester City seems to be struggling and is yet to rediscover their rhythm after the coronavirus break. The earlier they reinvent themselves, the better for them.

They are currently lying 3rd on the league table even though they lost the match however,  other teams are breathing down their neck and may catch up if they don’t get back to winning ways. Leicester City is on 55 points whiles Chelsea has 54. A win for Chelse and Wolves and a loss for them will move them to the fifth position for possible playoffs.
